Inspired by Nature: Textile Workshop with Isobel Loftus
We were thrilled to welcome textile artist Isobel to our group in September 2024, and her beautiful work, rooted in natural inspiration and limited colour palette, left a lasting impression on everyone. We’re now delighted to announce that Isobel will be returning to lead a hands-on workshop just for us!
What To Expect
This creative and relaxed workshop invites you to explore textile design development through the lens of the natural world. Using leaves, seedpods, petals and other organic forms as our starting point, we’ll experiment with:
- Stitch techniques
- Appliqué and embellishment
- Design principles inspired by traditional quilting
You’ll be guided through ways to observe and interpret natural forms, before translating them into your own unique stitched designs. While rooted in quilting traditions, this session is all about pushing boundaries, exploring texture and form, and developing personal responses through fabric and thread.
Who Is It For
Whether you’re an experienced quilter or simply curious about textile art, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to try something a little different in a supportive and inspiring setting.
What You'll Create
Each participant will aim to complete at least one 7″ x 7″ stitched sample—and possibly more! These can be used as stand-alone pieces or as a springboard for future creative projects.
By the end of the day, you’ll come away with new ideas, fresh confidence, and your own mini work of textile art.
