January Meeting Highlights:
Show-and-Tell & Activity Evening

Folded Star Potholder Activity Evening

Our first meeting of 2025 was a fantastic evening of creativity, laughter, and sewing! Thank you to everyone who attended, and a special shoutout to Mouse for leading our activity night where we made folded star potholders.  It was great to see so many members (including two brand-new attendees!) jump in and give it a go and wonderful to see so many fabulous creations taking shape!

If you finished your potholder (or are still working on it!) we’d love to see it!  Feel free to share your progress in our Facebook group or bring it along to a future meeting and take part in our show-and-tell.

If you couldn’t join us for the meeting (or just want to make another one… or three) we’ve created a step-by-step guide so you can give it a go at home! You’ll find the instructions and a downloadable pdf on the link below.

January Show & Tell

Helen brought in FIVE finished quilt tops that all shared the same materials but different patterns.  Each of them was, of course, finished to Helen’s exacting standards and each beautiful in their own right but to see them together as a collection was quite something!

It was amazing how the different fabrics ‘sang’ in such different ways in the different quilts and it is one of the
many things that I love about patchwork – how the same fabrics can look so different in different patterns and how the same pattern can look so different in different fabrics – as demonstrated by Nikki’s applique pattern that she made out of vintage material for a challenge and Dot’s version of the same completed at her recent workshop.

Also, Sarah’s beautiful applique quilt that she has worked on at some of the Sunday Sewcials and which we have persuaded her to enter into the Uttoxeter show.

Finally, Becky showed us her project where she has mastered the technique of joining squares with delicate
crochet. The results are stunning – hopefully we can persuade her to share her skills at a dabble day in 2026…
