Group Activity Evening Fun: Travelling Sewing Pouches
The July meeting was our final get together before the summer break and we hosted our second activity evening of the year. This time we made travelling sewing pouches; a clever and versatile design created especially for the group by our fabulous chair, Wendy!
Originally intended to store and piece one-inch hexies on the go (ideal for holidays!), members quickly found that the pouches are versatile and can be adapted for all kinds of uses; from everyday sewing kits to thoughtful little handmade gifts.
We had a few fast makers who managed to finish their project on the night itself and several members have since completed their pouches and shared photos of their finished creations (if we’ve missed your project please drop us an email with a photo and we’ll add it!) . Some even enjoyed the project so much that they have already made more to give to family and friends and others have used it as the perfect excuse to start their first foray into English Paper Piecing.
The evening was full of creativity, laughter, and plenty of shared tips. Having a larger space made it easy to spread out and enjoy the social side of sewing together. Members also suggested some brilliant ideas for future activity evenings, like sharing cutting instructions beforehand and having committee members help guide each table, so we’ll be able to make the next one even better!
Check out the gallery below to see some of the works in progress on the night and a wonderful selection of the finished pouches!
