SPQ at the 2025 British Quilt and Stitch Village in Uttoxeter
A wonderful weekend at the British Quilt and Stitch Village
We had a truly lovely time at this year’s event, and we’re so proud to share just how much SPQ members were part of it. The show is always a highlight in the calendar, and this year was no exception; it was bursting with colour, creativity, and community spirit.
A big congratulations to all our members who entered quilts into the open competition! It’s always a joy to see so many familiar names and even more exciting to see their incredible work up close. The standard was, as ever, absolutely stunning, and we’re delighted to share some photos of the beautiful entries below for anyone who was unable to visit in person.
SPQ had a stand at the show again this year which proved very popular, we had lots of visitors stopping by to learn more about the group, admire our display, and have a good old chat about all things quilting. Thank you to everyone who helped out on the stand and gave people such a warm welcome. We look forward to hopefully seeing some of those new faces at our upcoming meetings.
We also want to give a big shoutout to all the members who volunteered their time to help behind the scenes. Whether it was hanging quilts, acting as quilt angels, or helping with takedown and returns, your efforts were truly appreciated and helped keep everything running smoothly.
Thank you SPQ Volunteers!!!
Along with seeing our members fabulous quilts, one of the highlights of the show for us was obviously seeing the SPQ group quilt proudly hanging in the competition.
We’ll be sharing more about that (along with some close up photos) in a separate post very soon but we can say this: it was a wonderful collaborative effort and a great way to bring members together creatively. We were absolutely delighted with how it turned out; especially considering we pulled it all together in just 11 weeks! A real testament to what can be achieved when everyone comes together with enthusiasm, skills, and a shared love of quilting.
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled that the show theme for next year has already been announced – and yes, the group is planning to take part again! Plans are already beginning to take shape, and we’re excited to see what we’ll create together this time. If you’re interested in being involved, keep an eye out for updates!
All in all, it was a wonderful event and a brilliant showcase of the talent and passion in our quilting community. Thank you again to everyone who took part, helped out, or came along to enjoy the day. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
